Our Story
State of Science is driven by a recognized leader with a passion for our innovation ecosystem in Canada.
Martha's love of science started as a child, building a pulley over the stairs to avoid carrying up laundry and mixing up potions and mudpies in the front yard. She carried this love of building, experimentation and science through school in her dual Science degree in Biochemistry and Business (U. Waterloo), and further into her professional life as a Board Member, Governance Chair and National Partner specializing in non-dilutive innovation funding at a global professional services firm.
A former member of CPA Canada's SR&ED Advisory Committee, an ICD.D holder and winner the University of Waterloo's Young Alumni Award for her contributions to the field of Science and Business, Martha is regularly featured to promote R&D and innovation across Canada. She has contributed to organizations including Toronto Region Board of Trade, Communitech, and BNN (Business News Network) and happily shares her experience with students, scientists and business groups across Canada.
A Protégé in the Women's Executive Network's Top 100 Wisdom II Program, Martha also achieved the European Quality Award (EQA) coaching designation from the European Mentoring and Coaching Council, which helped her shape and lead Best Workplaces in Canada award winning teams.
